What makes a good tip?
BritainNow.uk is especially interested in tips that reveal new information about political developments, business stories, public interest matters, institutional wrongdoing, data that exposes systematic problems, or cultural stories with genuine public significance. A strong tip is specific, verifiable, and rooted in evidence — a document, a dataset, a firsthand account, or a pattern that others have missed. Vague rumours or unsubstantiated claims are not useful; our editorial standards demand that every story we publish is built on solid facts.
We welcome everything from a quiet briefing about a policy shift in Westminster to a leaked spreadsheet showing irregularities in public spending. If you have evidence of corporate malpractice, regulatory failure, or mismanagement in local government, we want to review it. Cultural stories — for example, a funding crisis at a major arts institution or a community campaign that has national implications — are equally valuable. The key is the public interest: your tip should help our readers understand something important about Britain today.
How should I send my tip?
Use tips@britainnow.uk for story ideas, documents, leads, or investigative material. For time-sensitive breaking news — an incident unfolding, a sudden resignation, an urgent development — send directly to newsdesk@britainnow.uk so our editorial team can act quickly. Press releases and official announcements should go to press@britainnow.uk. If you are unsure which address to use, start with tips@ and we will route it internally.

What information should I include?
At minimum, tell us the who, what, when, and where. Describe what happened, who is involved, when it occurred or is expected to occur, and the location or context. Attach any supporting materials — documents, screenshots, recordings, correspondence, or photographs — but please do not send large files without prior arrangement; we can provide a secure upload link if needed.
Clearly state whether you are speaking on or off the record. If you wish to remain anonymous, say so explicitly. If you are a current or former employee of an organisation, mention your role only if it helps verify your account. We treat all submissions as confidential unless you instruct otherwise.
How do we verify your tip?
Our Standards & Fact-Checking Lead, Oliver Reeves, oversees verification of every tip that enters the editorial pipeline. His team cross-references information with original sources, official records, public databases, and, where possible, independent corroboration. We never present rumours as facts; unverified material is held until we can confirm it to the standards set out in our Sources & Standards and fact-checking policy.
If your tip involves documents, we assess their authenticity and provenance. If it involves an individual account, we evaluate consistency and credibility. The process may involve follow-up questions from Oliver Reeves or a relevant editor. The goal is always to publish accurate, fair, and fully verified journalism.
What about confidentiality?
BritainNow.uk takes source protection seriously. We will not disclose your identity without your permission, unless required by law. If you have specific concerns about security — for example, if you are a whistleblower or work in a sensitive sector — please indicate that when you submit, and we will discuss the best way to handle your information. Our data handling practices are detailed in our privacy policy. We store tip-related correspondence securely and limit access to relevant editorial staff. You can also contact us via encrypted email or request a secure upload link if you prefer not to send materials by ordinary email.
What happens after I submit?
We aim to acknowledge your tip within five working days. If you do not receive a reply, please follow up via our general contact page. Not every tip leads to a story; we assess each submission against editorial priorities, capacity, and public interest. If your tip is pursued, a reporter or editor will contact you for further details. We cannot guarantee publication or provide a timeline.

What you can expect from us
BritainNow.uk operates under the oversight of Editor-in-Chief Jonathan Ellery, who sets editorial policy and standards. Our team — including Managing Editor Rebecca Haines, who coordinates the newsroom workflow, and Oliver Reeves, who leads fact-checking and source verification — is committed to treating every tip with professionalism and respect. We will not publish anything based on a tip until we have verified it to our normal standards. We do not pay for tips, but we recognise the value of your time and effort in sharing information that serves the public interest.
