Who is responsible for what we publish?
Editorial oversight at BritainNow.uk rests with the Editor-in-Chief, Jonathan Ellery, who sets editorial policy, approves publication decisions and is ultimately accountable for all content. He is supported by a dedicated team of editors and specialists who manage specific areas of coverage and ensure standards are maintained.
Rebecca Haines, as Managing Editor, oversees the daily newsroom workflow, article commissioning and headline review. Thomas Whitmore, Politics & Public Affairs Editor, is responsible for Westminster, council and policy reporting. Charlotte Foster, Business & Economy Correspondent, handles markets, economics and personal finance. Sophie Marlowe, Culture & Lifestyle Editor, manages arts, features and society coverage. Oliver Reeves, as Standards & Fact-Checking Lead, oversees fact-checking, source verification and the review of sensitive stories. How does the editorial process work for each article?
Every article published on BritainNow.uk is reviewed by a human editor before it goes live. This applies to all content, including news reports, analysis, explainers, opinion pieces and cultural coverage. No article is published without editorial oversight.
For sensitive stories — those involving legal matters, allegations, financial claims, minors, or privacy-sensitive reporting — the process includes an additional review by Oliver Reeves, our Standards & Fact-Checking Lead. This second layer of scrutiny ensures that sources are verified, legal risks are assessed and our editorial standards are met before publication. How do we distinguish between news, opinion and commercial content?
BritainNow.uk maintains a clear and consistent separation between editorial journalism and commercial or promotional material. News reporting, analysis and explainers are produced by our editorial team and are subject to the same fact-checking and editorial review process. Opinion pieces and columns are clearly labelled as such, and the author’s perspective is attributed to them, not to the publication.
Sponsored content, affiliate content and promotional material are always clearly labelled. Sponsored articles carry a visible disclosure indicating they are produced in partnership with a commercial partner. Affiliate links within editorial content are disclosed at the point of use. What transparency do we provide at the article level?
Every article on BritainNow.uk includes a byline linking to the author’s profile page, the publication date and, where applicable, a last-updated date. Articles that have been reviewed by an editor or fact-checked by the Standards team carry an editor or reviewer label. Source references are provided within the text or via linked footnotes.
Any commercial relationships relevant to an article — such as affiliate links or sponsored content — are disclosed within the piece. If a correction has been made to an article after publication, a correction note is appended at the top or bottom of the page, with a link to our Corrections Policy for full details. We believe this level of transparency allows readers to assess the reliability and context of every piece of content.

We will label opinion, analysis and commercial content so you can distinguish them from straight news reporting. We will name our writers and editors, and we will provide clear routes for you to raise concerns or request corrections.
Our editorial independence is guaranteed by our funding model, which relies on display advertising, affiliate links, commercial partnerships, sponsored content, newsletter sponsorships and content licensing. However, all published editorial content is reviewed by a human editor before publication. AI is never used to fabricate quotes, sources, interviews, bylines, author experience or expert profiles. How do we attribute and credit our writers?
All editorial content on BritainNow.uk is attributed to a named writer or, in rare cases where a piece is produced collaboratively, to a team byline. Each byline links to the author’s profile page, which includes their role, background and contact information. We do not publish anonymous or pseudonymous content. How can you raise a complaint or request a correction?
If you believe BritainNow.uk has published an error, breached editorial standards or failed to meet our commitments, you can submit a complaint via our Complaints Procedure. Complaints are reviewed by the relevant editor and, where appropriate, by Oliver Reeves, our Standards & Fact-Checking Lead.
